Actually, this is not the way they work. Long before it gets this high they will devise a different tax. Such is their method: When one tax gets too high (and too high is, by definition: whenever gary deering can figure it out and starts bitching about it, it's too high. FICA, for example, got broken into two parts in an attempt to derate its size: you as individual employee paid x% and so did your employer pay a matching x%. This way you "only" paid x% and the government succeeded in pulling the wool over your eyes and collected 2x% in your name in the process. My generation accepted this because in their core they accepted "altruism" as a moral ideal. I wonder will generation x'ers (pun not intended) be duped in the same way? Time will tell.)
