index footnote 3 chronologically --added here 10/7/2004

Since another way to differentiate between spiritual problems and psychological problems is to recognize that the psychological pertains to self valuing and the spiritual to self caring, self caring issues are the ones we are concerned with in our spiritual quest.

For example, if you are seriously self effacing—as opposed to tongue-in-cheek self effacing—then your problem is self-valuing—one doesn’t seriously efface that which one values.*

If on the other hand you care about happiness but not enough to worship it then that is a spiritual issue—happiness should be sacred therefore it is sacred—one doesn’t not worship the sacred.
